چکیده

The paper describes the theoretical framework and results of using an rapid three-dimensional super element model of oil field development. The model makes it possible to speed up calculation of two-phase filtration in an oil reservoir by hundreds of times owing to the use of large computational cells – super elements, the number of which corresponds to the number of wells in the field. Accuracy of the numerical solution is ensured by a formulation of the problem in terms of the smooth mean fields of pressure and saturation with a selective refinement of the solution in the near of the wells on independent detailed nested grids.

Reservoir Simulation with the Finite Element Method Using Biot Poroelastic Approach

We are developing a finite element program for oil and gas reservoir simulation based on Biot’s poroelastic theory, where a simultaneous solution is sought for both the pore pressure and strain in the solid phase. Several 2-D and 3-D cases are presented, which are compared with analytical solutions for verification of this approach. We have also applied this method to simulate surface subsidenc...

Simulation of Multi-phase Flow through Porous Media Using Cvfe (control Volume Finite Element)

The paper presents the application of Control-Volume Finite Element (CVFE) method in simulation of multi-phase (water, oil, gas) flow through porous media. The numerical model developed using the CVFE method presents advantage in simulation of faulted reservoirs or simulation of complex geometry reservoir. Also, CVFE method can accurate represents the location of wells inside of reservoir, fact...

Prediction of Nitrogen Injection Performance in Conventional Reservoirs Using the Correlation Developed by the Incorporation of Experimental Design Techniques and Reservoir Simulation

Enhanced oil recovery using nitrogen injection is a commonly applied method for pressure maintenance in conventional reservoirs. Numerical simulations can be practiced for the prediction of a reservoir performance in the course of injection process; however, a detailed simulation might take up enormous computer processing time. In such cases, a simple statistical model may be a good approach to...

A Fully Integrated Method for Dynamic Rock Type Characterization Development in One of Iranian Off-Shore Oil Reservoir

Rock selection in modeling and simulation studies is usually based on two techniques; routinely defined rock types and those defined by special core analysis (SCAL). The challenge in utilizing these two techniques is that they are frequently assumed to be the same, but in practice, static rock-types (routinely defined) are not always representative of dynamic rock-types (SCAL defined) in the re...
